
This circuit combine two of the most remote parks in Tanzania.
Ruaha is the second biggest park in Tanzania. July to November is the best time to visit the park when wildlife concentrate on the banks of the Great Ruaha river. Like Katavi, Ruaha is one of the least visited park offering great game viewing, and the scenery is at is best.
Katavi National park is the Tanzania’s third largest park, it lies in the remote South West of the country. With just few hundred visitors a year it is one of the most unspoiled wilderness area in Africa. You will find high quality game viewing with impressive herds of buffalos , huge concentration of hippos, abundance of elephant, giraffe, zebra, impala. Predators are plentiful, especially lion and leopard .With over 400 species of birds identified particularly around the Lakes it is a paradise for bird watching.

Day 1 Tuesday
Flight to Ruaha National Park – welcome at the airstrip and transfer to Ruaha River lodge
Game drive in open sided 4x4 which may be shared with other camp residents.

Morning and afternoon Game viewing in Ruaha National Park

Ruaha River Lodge: occupies a unique and privileged position set around a series of rocky kopjes in a bend of the Great Ruaha River, blending seamlessly into its surroundings and affording views up and down the river. Game is drawn to the river from the neighbouring hills and visitors can witness the great wildlife dramas unfold from the comfort and protection of their self contained natural stone and thatch 'banda'. The Lodge is hosted by Peter and Sarah Fox who after a couple of decades living in Ruaha have an unparalleled knowledge of the park.
Day 3 Thursday
Shared charter flight* to Katavi National Park
Welcome at the airstrip and transfer to Katavi Wildlife Camp
Game drive in open sided 4x4 which may be shared with other camp residents
Dinner and Overnight Katavi Wildlife Camp
Day 4-5-6 Friday-Saturday-Sunday
Safari activities in Katavi , game viewing, optional game walk .
An early morning game drive before the dawn is perfect to start the day and spot the predators
Day 7 Monday
Shared charter flight to Dar es Salaam or Arusha
Katavi wilderness camp is very exclusive and located in the best game area so that you can watch the daily movements of game between food and water and witness the drama unfold before you. The tents are luxurious in size and furnishings, and are cunningly set back in amongst the trees that line the floodplain, providing both shade and camouflage in the prime game viewing area of the park, where the wildlife will be totally unaware of your presence.
