Hi Thierry,
This was a trip of a lifetime and it began with Thierry’s dedicated effort to design the perfect safari for us, and plan it in such a way that we never had to worry about anything. We stayed at five different camps over a period of ten nights and all camps were outstanding.
Our adventure began on arrival at Maun (Botswana) where we were greeted by a company representative and handed over to our Safari Air transportation. Our first three camps where Leroo La Tau on the banks of the Boteti river in the Makgadikgadi Pans, Xugana Island in the Okavango Delta and Savute Safari Lodge along the Savute Channel, all part of Desert & Delta Safaris. All three were delighful with amazing game; beautiful accommodations; outstanding, friendly service, and great food .The comraderie experienced by having various members of the staff and the guides participate in the meals was priceless and we truly enjoyed the nightly musical performances the entire staff put on around the firepit. Among the many great game drives and other activities, the “bush walk” or “walking safari” in the Okavango was a real highlight. Our fourth camp was Ngoma Safari Lodge along the Chobe river near Kasane. The beauty of the surroundings and the luxury of the accommodations (private plunge pool and outdoor shower included) make this camp an exquisite and romantic getaway. We appreciated all the efforts made to ensure we had a great stay, particularly catering to a vegetarian teenager! The night drive was a big highlight of our stay as we got to see a baby zebra that had been born within minutes and wasn’t even standing yet. Although the main purpose of the night drive is to see predators at their most active, we were sure glad to see none on that particular night knowing that the baby zebra would be easy prey during her first hours of life.
Our last stop was The Elephant Camp. The camp (an ultra-luxurious tented camp with views of the gorge and the falls’ spray) offered daily elephant interactions (included), walks with Sylvester the cheetah (by donation) and access to Victoria Falls where many activities (not included) are available. Once again, service was impeccable and the food was very good.
The main purpose of our safari had been to see as much and as varied wildlife as possible and we were not disappointed. We had asked Thierry to create an itinerary that would give us a good mix of experiences (we were traveling with our 17 year old daughter) and he delivered the most memorable trip imaginable, so much so that we have already begun thinking about the next one!
Many thanks Thierry
