Phil D & David M – Washington, DC | Tanzania | August 2015

Hi Jen, We had an incredible time. Thank you for your efforts and suggestions. It was near perfect, in my opinion. We saw all of the wildlife one might hope to see, except for rhinos, sadly. We know that unfortunately, they’re extremely endangered these days (a real shame).  We very much liked our guide, Damas. Please pass along to him how much we appreciated the trip; we learned from him, and he was patient and pleasant. David’s birthday was special, and he really enjoyed the “surprise”. As for the itinerary, it was perfect seeing Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. I would add Mount Kilimanjaro more formally into the itinerary, versus a brief possible viewing on the last day, as we attempted. Unfortunately, there was a lot of traffic on the last day to the airport, so we couldn’t get close to Mount Kilimanjaro. Fortunately, I got a glimpse of it from the plane (so can still say that I saw it), but it would have been better to carve out a few hours perhaps on the first full day, or to know to leave earlier on the last day to visit it.  Gerald at Bashay Rift Lodge provided excellent service. Please pass that note along to whomever should receive feedback. Also, do you have any information on the people who developed the places where we stayed, outside of Planet Lodge? We were told that they were developed by a French man and designed by a German person, but we’d find it interesting to know more about them. They did excellent work. Thanks again. I will most certainly recommend you in the future to anyone interested in a trip to Africa.
