Upon arrival into Victoria Falls Airport, guests will be met and transferred by private road transfer to Old Drift Lodge where they will stay for three nights.|
Old Drift Lodge nestles in the untouched, beautiful surrounds of the Zambezi National Park, only 4.5km upstream from Victoria Falls. An abundance of wildlife inhabits the park which can be explored by road, river or on foot. The region’s rich natural heritage is reflected in the lodge’s fourteen graceful tented rooms. All carefully styled rooms feature spacious, ensuite bedrooms with indoor/ outdoor showers, outdoor “bath with a view”, complimentary mini bar drinks in rooms, deck and private plunge pool. Four are ensuite family rooms.
With sweeping 360° views from the splendour of the Zambezi River through to a waterhole (and back to the river), the main lodge area boasts a breath-taking dining and bar setting. Game drives follow the river course whilst pontoon boat safaris offer unique views of wildlife along the banks as well as in the water. Large mammals including giraffe, eland, zebra, elephants and buffaloes roam the park, as do secretive predators. Guided bush walks afford fascinating ways to discover the smaller creatures, plants and numerous birds of the park. A guided Tour of the Falls bring guests incredibly close to the awe-inspiring Falls.
Overnights Old Drift Lodge BLD
Following the morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, guests have a shared road transfer from Old Drift Lodge to Kasane Airport for an onwards seat in charter transfer to Kwara Camp, where they will stay for three nights.
Kwara Camp is situated on a private concession on the edge of the permanent waters of the world renowned Okavango Delta in Botswana, which shares a common boundary with Moremi Game Reserve. The area offers a combination of permanent water, seasonal floodplains and pans, open grasslands as well as extensive dry bush and scrub which creates a great game viewing destination throughout the year.
The nine safari-style tents are built on raised decks within a grove of huge and ancient African Ebony trees. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a semi open shower and a private deck with views across the floodplain. There is a lounge, bar and dining area in the central lodge as well as two plunge pools and gift shop. Evenings can be enjoyed around the outside fire area.
Kwara is renowned for being a camp that offers a year-round delta experience and a diverse range of activities including mokoro trips, guided walks with armed guides and motor boating trips through the waterways. In addition, day and night game drives are taken to explore the area which offers spectacular scenery with scattered herds of plains game and ever-attendant predators.
Overnights Kwara Camp BLD
Following the morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, guests will be transferred by light aircraft from Kwara Camp to San Camp where they will stay for two nights. San Camp is situated on the edge of the vast Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. These spectacular pans are one of the most important wetland sites remaining in Africa. This traditional camp has a romantic essence complemented by the desolate beauty of the pans. San has six Meru-style tents, well-spaced ensuring privacy and facing the pan. The cream-coloured tents blend in harmoniously with the environment and each tent has an en-suite bathroom with an extensive range of toiletries, a vintage style bucket shower and a flush toilet. The rooms are comfortable with simple furnishings: the high beds that give a great view of the pans, a canvas set of shelves and two trunks at the end of each bed. Lighting is using traditional old spirit lamps which give a gentle glow. The main area of San is a simple white canvas tent, and inside you’ll find a long table with chairs surrounded by bookcases. There’s an interesting collection of tortoise shells, arrowheads and other artifacts on display. During the dry months (April to October) four wheeled quad motorbikes are used to explore the vastness of the land. Guided walks are taken into the middle of the Pans to explore remote archaeological sites and discovering sites never before documented such as fossil beds containing the remains of extinct giant zebra and hippo. Many of the guides are fully qualified Zoologists/Geologists, often working on PhD research. As such, they are most able to convey all the nuances of the desert and the adaptations of its inhabitants which we consider to be one of the most interesting features of the environment. San Camp is a complete desert experience focusing on species unique to the area such as gemsbok, brown hyaena and springbok as well as the geology, archaeology and anthropology of the Kalahari and Makgadikgadi.
