Follow in the footsteps of the world-renowned primatologist Dian Fossey who spent more than 18 years studying the now endangered mountain gorilla on this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Visit the Parc National des Volcans (Volcanoes National Park), which is one of the few places left on earth to see these magnificent creatures and spend a few hours in their company. Mountainous and heavily forested terrain make for a challenging hike to see these incredible creatures, as well as limited numbers of day permits, however this unforgettable experience to sit in the presence of these amazing creatures that share 98% of our DNA is one not to be missed.

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 Kigali - Volcanoes National Park
This morning, we will depart on a city tour of Kigali, visiting craft markets and the genocide memorial. After lunch at a city restaurant, we drive ( 2 hrs 30 mins) to your luxury safari lodge near the volcanoes National Parc.

Day 3 Gorilla Trekking Day
Today we enjoy an encounter with the critically endangered mountain gorillas. The mountain gorillas are part of a worldwide population of just 880 individuals, and the gorillas we track today belong to one of several habituated family groups. The time ta ken to track the gorillas varies from 1 to 7 hrs depending on location. Once we find the gorilla s, our group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them, a truly memorable experience. In the afternoon,if time weather permits, visit the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo or the local markets in the Musanze town.

Day 4 Trek to Dian Fossey Research Camp
After an early breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park HQs for the start of your Dian Fossey hike experience. The trek to the Karisoke research camp takes around 3 – 4 hours and takes you through some of the most beautiful stretches of Hagenia – Hypericum forest in the Volcanoes National Park. Following lunch, drive back to Kigali and check in to your hotel for overnight.
