  • Day 6: South Serengeti ~ 20 March 2018

Today, we head to the southern part of the Serengeti where you will get a chance to witness new life on the plains of the Serengeti. The rainy season creates a lush and green landscape that offers excellent grazing for the wildebeest herds who flock here during this time of the year. Alive with wildlife and bustling with action, this is also the calving season in the Serengeti as the conditions are perfect with lots of lush grass and water and there are young foals everywhere. The calving season lasts for about six weeks, with approximately 8,000 young wildebeest born every day in the peak calving period. The foals will then have a month or two to gather their strength in these comfortable living conditions before beginning to long migration north to the Masai Mara.

Our camp for the next two days is ideally located in the heart of Serengeti South Central Plains and offers the perfect location for excellent game viewing and the chance to witness newly born calves taking their first few steps before leaping and bounding across the plains in one of nature’s most incredible events
